Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains how Discoverr collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile app.
Overview
Discoverr is a mobile app that helps you explore real locations in London, check in on-site, earn XP, unlock badges, complete collections, and connect with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.
Discoverr is operated from the United Kingdom. We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, such as your email address, display name, username, profile bio, profile photo, and privacy settings. We also collect data generated when you use the app, including check-in history, XP and level progress, badges, collection and district progress, friend connections, activity feed interactions, reports you submit, block lists, and photos you upload for check-ins or your profile.
We may collect basic device and usage information, such as app version and general diagnostic data, to maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve performance. If you sign in with Google, we receive the account details needed to authenticate you, as described in the Third Party Services section below.
Location data
Discoverr accesses your device location only when you use features that require it, such as maps, nearby places, and location verification for check-ins. We do not continuously track your location in the background unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires it.
Location data is used to show relevant places on the map, verify GPS check-ins, and confirm that you are at a location when checking in. We do not sell your location data to third parties.
Photos and check-ins
If you check in with a photo, that image is stored and linked to your account and the location you visited. Check-in photos may appear on your profile, in your activity feed, and in other social features depending on your privacy settings. You can manage what is shared through your in-app privacy controls.
Social features and visibility
Discoverr includes social features such as friend requests, public and private profile settings, shared achievements, and an activity feed. Depending on your settings, your profile, check-ins, badges, collections, and uploaded photos may be visible to friends or other users.
You can adjust your visibility preferences within the app. You can also block other users, as described in the User Generated Content and Moderation section below.
User Generated Content and Moderation
Discoverr allows you to upload photos, create and edit your profile, share activity, and take part in social features such as friends, feeds, and shared progress. Content you submit may be visible to others according to your privacy settings.
You can report accounts or content that you believe violates our Terms of Service or community standards. You can block other users from your profile or from relevant content. Blocked users cannot interact with you through the restricted social features.
Discoverr may review reports and may restrict, remove, or take action against content or accounts that violate our Terms of Service, community rules, or applicable laws. We may also act on content that poses a safety or security risk.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate Discoverr. This includes verifying check-ins, calculating XP and levels, awarding badges, tracking collection and district progress, displaying your profile and activity, enabling friend connections, processing reports and blocks, maintaining security, and improving the app.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
Third Party Services
Discoverr uses trusted third-party providers to operate parts of the service. These providers process information on our behalf and only for the purpose of running Discoverr.
Supabase provides authentication, database, and file storage for account data, profiles, check-ins, and uploaded images. Google Maps Platform provides map display and location-related features. Google Sign-In provides optional account authentication. Resend sends transactional emails, such as account-related messages where email delivery is required.
These providers are required to handle data securely and in line with applicable data protection law. Their processing is limited to what is necessary to deliver the relevant service to Discoverr.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. Access is limited to what is needed to operate, secure, and maintain the service.
We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. When an account is deleted, personal data is removed or anonymised within a reasonable period unless retention is required by law, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legitimate business obligations.
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to maintain a high standard of protection.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, and request a copy of the data we hold about you. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully.
You can update most profile and privacy settings directly in the app. To exercise any of these rights, or if you need help with your account, contact us using the details below.
Account deletion
You can delete your Discoverr account directly within the app through Settings > Delete Account.
When you delete your account, we remove your profile data, check-ins, uploaded content, friends, and other social data associated with your account. Deletion is intended to be permanent.
Some information may be retained where required by law, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legitimate business obligations. For example, we may keep limited records needed to enforce our Terms, respond to legal requests, or maintain the integrity of the service.
If you have difficulty deleting your account in the app, contact us at discoverr.contact@gmail.com and we will assist you.
Children's privacy
Discoverr is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Discoverr grows. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Continued use of Discoverr after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
